MFA prompt not loading

For some reason when trying to enter in the 2digit code from my MacBook into the mobile app, I will receive a notification but no prompt for input.

When trying to approve a GitHub login using the 2-digit code, sometimes the notification appears on the iPhone but no prompt shows up to enter the code. Here are some things that can help:

1. Make sure both devices are signed in to the same GitHub account. Go to github.com/settings/security → Devices and check that your iPhone is listed under “GitHub Mobile devices.” If it’s not there, remove and re-link it.
2. Check notification and background settings. On iPhone, go to Settings → Notifications → GitHub and enable Allow Notifications. Also go to Settings → General → Background App Refresh → GitHub and make sure it’s on.
3. Try opening the GitHub app manually when the notification arrives. Sometimes the prompt only appears inside the app itself.
4. Force close and reopen the GitHub app, then try signing in again.
5. Update or reinstall GitHub for iOS. If you’re already on the latest version, deleting and reinstalling can help reset the connection.
6. Re-link GitHub Mobile. On desktop, go to Settings → Security → GitHub Mobile, remove the iPhone, then open the GitHub app → Profile → Settings → Passwordless sign-in and re-link it.
7. If nothing else works, use “Use another method” during sign-in to enter a code from your authenticator app or use recovery codes.

This issue can happen if the mobile app gets stuck between the notification and the sign-in prompt, especially after iOS updates. Re-linking or reinstalling usually fixes it.
