I'm experiencing errors with all my Copilot chat requests, consistently receiving the message "Sorry, the upstream model provider is currently experiencing high demand. Please try again later or consider switching models." I've already tried switching models, but the problem persists with all of them. What solutions can you suggest?

This error usually isn’t caused by your setup — it means Copilot’s backend models are under heavy load. A few things you can try:

1. Check GitHub Status → if there’s an incident affecting Copilot, it will be listed there.
2. Retry later → the error often resolves once demand drops.
3. Switch environments → if you’re only seeing this in GitHub.com, try VS Code or JetBrains (or vice versa).
4. Make sure your extension is up to date → updating the Copilot extension/plugin can sometimes help.
5. Report it to GitHub Support if the issue persists for hours/days without any status updates.

So in short: this isn’t something you can fully fix locally — it’s usually a temporary server-side availability issue.

You can check GitHub Status here: https://www.githubstatus.com/
– this page shows if Copilot or other GitHub services are having issues.

For community discussions, you can also use:

• GitHub Community Discussions
  If the issue persists and isn’t listed on the status page, you can raise a support ticket:

1. Go to the GitHub Support portal.
2. Sign in with your GitHub account (paid accounts can create tickets).
3. Fill in the subject, description (include the exact error: "Sorry, the upstream model provider is currently experiencing high demand..."), and any screenshots/logs.
4. Submit the ticket.
5. You can track or update it anytime under My Tickets in the Support portal.

Alternatively, you can try Copilot in GitHub Support. If the AI assistant can’t resolve your issue, it will offer to create a support request for you automatically.
