Hello everyone ! I have 2 questions related with github copilot. And its my first question here.

1. How can I remove these files? As they take a place. I use laptop, so screen size is small, it makes more smaller.
   

2. In github copilot, for premium requests, If it ends and I recharge $20. But, in this month, I spent $15, so the rest of $5 will be added for the next month premium requests or it will be lost?

Hi! I'll answer in order:

1. How to remove "47 files changed" in Copilot chat?
   It's just a notification from Copilot/agent showing how many files have been changed.
   If you don't like seeing this list, then:
   • It can't be "removed" completely, because Copilot shows the change history to inform the user.
   • Usually it's enough to switch to another chat — the list will disappear when the chat is refreshed.
   • Personally, I use the official plugin in JetBrains IDEs and there's no such problem: I just click accept and that's it. But switching to another chat is a good workaround, since the context window is often small anyway and Copilot itself frequently requires context switching.

2. Are the remaining premium Copilot requests carried over?
   Usually unused requests are not carried over — the limit is renewed every month, and the remaining ones expire (are burned).

1. Yes, I use Copilot Pro GH Edu. It's not my main tool, it's more like an auxiliary one. I chose Claude Code CLI as the main one now, so I work in pairs.

2. And when opening a new chat, the context is really lost (dialogue history). It turns out that when the project is re-studied, it spends tokens again.

@AntGalanin06 thanks, for valuable suggestions. I use normally sonnet 4 in copilot in agent mode. First heard about Claude Code CLI. As you are using both copilot and Claude Code CLI. Which one do you prefer and got better solution / performance ? If you want to give any more suggestions, please provide, much appreciate in advance.

Recommendation: Claude Code CLI

I recommend Claude Code CLI. It handles tasks well, and each project uses a CLAUDE.md file as an instruction.

Advantages

• Context caching — in most cases, it saves your tokens.
• Specialized agents (recently released):
  • Described using .md files.
  • Can be granted access to tools (like MCP, etc.).
  • Can be global or project-specific.
  • Each agent has its own context window.
  • Flexible launch control:
    • Run sequentially or in parallel.
  • Highly configurable behavior.

Additional Features

• There's a shell layer called SuperClaude — a wrapper around Claude Code:
  • Adds 100+ commands and specializations.
  • Supports persons (role-based personas).
  • Includes context compression to save tokens.

Drawbacks

• High cost:
  • Paying via API is not cost-effective.
  • With the $20 plan, the token limit runs out quickly on complex tasks.
  • Limit resets every 5 hours.
  • Some users report no practical limit on the $100 plan, but it's quite expensive.

Hi and welcome!
1. If you’re referring to the Copilot sidebar or panel in your editor, you can close it using the “X” on the panel or shortcut like Ctrl + B (in VS Code) to toggle the sidebar.
2. GitHub Copilot’s usage is not based on a credit system. The $10/month or $20/month (for Business) is a flat subscription — unused “requests” or money don’t roll over. So the $5 would not carry over.

If you want the chat but not the files changed there is no "X" option for the files changed but to start new chat. UI over site.

I'm also interested in this. I don't want half my screen taken up by a list of file names. Its absurdly bad.

Closing the chat, restarting the chat is not a solution. Removing the files changed box needs to be an option. Even if you don't keep the changes you lose screen area.
