Commerce Manager Does not Accept Checkout URL—Http Status 500 Prevents Setup?

When trying to setup the new required Checkout URL the FB wizard prevents me from continuing past the URL step because of the error below. I setup the exact same way on another site (site A) which works fine. I noticed that visiting the checkout URL e.g. https://domain.com/meta/checkout?ebid=fbe_magento_1... returns http 500 on both sites, I think this is why the Facebook wizard fails. If I choose a URL that returns e.g. status 200 it does seem to accept the URL. The only difference I can tell is that on site A (working) when I went to setup the URL the was pre-filled, however on site B it was not and so I had to enter it myself, but the wizard does not accept this.

Should the 'naked' checkout URL really return an error 500?

I solved this for myself by creating a CloudFlare rule that redirects the 'naked' URL to /checkout/ (which presumably returns a status 200. As you can see, this allows the setup to proceed (after which the redirect can be disabled). I will leave this info for any poor soul that comes across this issue, I do think it should be handled by the extension.
