Arduino IDE deleting project when disk is full.

I was getting a compile error, so I relaunched and the code is gone. Like nothing at all, not even the default classes. I assume it tried to save when I closed the IDE (despite there not being any dialog boxes) and corrupted the file :/ the ino file still exists, but it is now empty (0 bytes). I also tried looking at the compiling folder in %appdata%/local/temp, but it was empty. I have very little space on my C drive, so that may be why, but I am extremely frustrated after losing my school project.

Hm, that's annoying. If this is really due to a full disk, I wonder if the IDE should take a more failsafe approach to writing files (i.e. writing a new file and then renaming it over the old file, which is a common way to prevent a full disk from causing such failures). Not sure if this can easily be done portably, maybe different platforms need different approaches (i.e. I'm not sure sure if Windows can (atomically) overwrite a file using a rename operation, things like that).

This also seems similar to #10798, though that talks about zeroes in the file (I think it does not talk about zero-length files) and it also seems to be related to a full system disk, not the disk that stores the sketch.
