Corionis' answer worked for me. One limitation I encountered is when working to unlink a deleted branch... I've not found a way to do that. |

This is still an issue. When a linked branch is deleted in remote, there is no way to unlink it from an issue. Github response is 422 (Unprocessable content) when you trying to link a new pr or branch with a deleted branch linked. |

Hi there - thank you folks for reporting and continuing to do so - we're able to reproduce with the Issues team and I'll share any updates that occur. Appreciate your patience - looks like this was in the Actions category and we may have missed it. |

I think I encounter the same issue. I have deleted a branch that was linked to an issue. Here's an example. Hope this helps for resolving this. Issue: Linked branch that can't be removed (since deleted): How it looks on the UI (the dropdown list that opens with the cog wheel does not show the deleted branch / can't be unchecked there): |

For anyone still looking for solutions - create a branch with the same name as the deleted linked one, unlink, then delete again. A smoother way would be nice, but it's a quick fix for a not very common problem. |

I had this problem with a branch that still existed, but not checked in the dropdown. When I checked it to (doubly) save the link to then delete it, Github HTTP error 422: Unprocessable Content. I also couldn't save it unchecked, because the Apply button was disabled. I just undisabled the Apply button with devtools and then saved it, and then the linked branch was gone 🤣 |

Same issue here, either going from an 'Issue' using the 'Gear' Icon, or going from a PR using the Gear icon, I cannot unlink an issue from it's PR... |

On my repository on the GitHub.com website, I have an issue and I linked it to a branch. Later on, I filed another issue that I decided is better related to the changes in the branch. I want to unlink the branch from the old issue and relink it to the new issue. I am the repository owner? How do I do this? Is it even possible? Thank you.
