I think that it should be restricted to collaborators. I'm worried about the feature creep this may drive as I've experienced how much some individuals could push hundreds of votes just because they want stuff on their own terms. |

Upvote from me. We have it for Discussions, why not for Issues? It helps prioritise issues and can be used as another option to sort, which makes it easier to find. |

Recently I found some repositories where I do not appear to be able to upvote on something. For instance, github ladybird. I used to be able to upvote just fine, like 2 weeks ago. I also don't get any message or explanation about this. Right now I do not know if this is a bug or a feature. I think it would be really helpful if users could upvote issues in repositories.
This would help the contributors fix bugs and implement features that matter because they know what the community thinks is important.
The new discussions feature does not currently answer the need, because you cannot close a Pull Request with a discussion, add a discussion to a project or mention a discussion in a release the same way you can with Issues.
Implementation can be similar to prominent community forums like Reddit or Stack Overflow, where this functionality is implemented.
