Enterprise AI controls & the agent control plane are now in public preview

At Universe 2025, we’ve announced public preview of agent control plane, a suite of enterprise governance features designed to give organizations deeper control over how agents operate across their environments with increased auditability and enterprise-ready custom agents!

🚢 What's new?

• The AI Control plane - One consolidated view and top-level navigation for all administrative tasks related to AI systems in GitHub.
• Enterprise-ready custom agents - Enterprise configuration to manage and standardize the roll out of custom agents across your repositories
• Agent session activity - Filtered view of enterprise-wide agent sessions
• MCP enterprise allowlist - Set enterprise-wide MCP allowlist via MCP registry URL to govern MCP connections in VS Code Insiders. Support for VS Code and other IDEs in general availability will be coming soon!
• AI administration through fine-grained permissions (FGPs) - coming soon!

The fine-grained permissions to allow non-Enterprise Owners to view AI Controls are great to have, but one thing most of our non-owners would really like to view are the Copilot usage stats in the Insights tab. It would be valuable if access could also be granted to view the insights data.
