Hi! That message typically appears when your account has either reached the usage limits of the free GitHub Codespaces plan or if there's a problem with your billing setup (even on free plans, a billing profile is sometimes required for overages or certain services). Here’s what you can do to check and resolve it: Check Your Codespaces Usage: Go to https://github.com/settings/billing Check your Codespaces compute hours and storage to see if you've exceeded the 120 core-hours or 15GB storage limits. Verify Billing Settings: Even for free-tier accounts, if your Codespaces or Actions usage goes beyond the free quota, you may be prompted to add a payment method. Review your current plan and quotas from your GitHub billing dashboard to confirm. If You're Under Limits But Still Getting This: It might be a temporary issue or a stale notification. Try logging out and back in, or clearing browser cache and retrying. Contact GitHub Support: If the message persists and you're sure you haven't exceeded the free tier limits, open a support ticket via GitHub Support for clarification. |

Hey @Siem2032 ! I’ve seen this message before — and yes, even on the free plan, GitHub Codespaces has usage limits. You're likely seeing that billing warning because you've hit (or are close to) one of these free-tier limits:
Here’s what you can do:

Fix Steps 1️⃣ Check Codespaces usage Dashboard me ja: GitHub Billing Dekh ki tu 120 core-hours ya 15GB storage cross kar gaya hai ya nahi. 2️⃣ Free up resources Unused Codespaces delete kar: Codespaces dashboardgithub.com/codespaces Storage free ho jaaye tab try kar fir se. 3️⃣ Verify billing settings Free plan bhi sometimes payment method chahiye hota hai for overage. Agar prompt aaye → add kar de ek valid card. 4️⃣ Temporary glitches Logout → login Browser cache clear kar Fir try kar Codespaces start karne. 5️⃣ Still stuck? Contact GitHub Support: GitHub Support Bata de ki tu free plan use kar raha hai aur usage under limit hai, par warning aa rahi hai. |

That message usually means you’ve hit the free monthly Codespaces quota for your account — even on the Free plan. Once you exceed either the 120 core‑hours of compute or 15 GB of storage included each month, Codespaces will stop working until the next billing cycle or until you add a payment method. How to check and fix it: Check your usage Go to Settings → Billing and plans → Codespaces. Look at your compute hours and storage usage for the current month. If you’ve hit the limit Option A: Wait until the start of your next monthly cycle — your free quota resets automatically. Option B: Add a payment method in Billing and plans → Payment information and set a small spending limit (e.g., $5–$10) so you can keep working now. You’ll only be charged for usage beyond the free quota. Prevent hitting the limit next time Stop or delete Codespaces when you’re not using them. Remove unused prebuilds or large dev containers to free up storage. Use smaller machine types if you don’t need high specs. 💡 Tip: Even if you’re on the Free plan, Codespaces is metered separately from Actions minutes and Packages storage — so it’s possible to hit the Codespaces limit while still having Actions minutes left. |

"You seem to have a billing issue. Please adjust your billing settings to continue using codespaces." I get this message, but I do not know how to get rid of it, and I have the free version, so I would think it does not apply to me. Or does it have to do with my account exceeding the limits of the free package listed below? Can someone help me with this?
2,000 Actions minutes/month
500MB of Packages storage
120 core-hours of Codespaces compute per developer
15GB of Codespaces storage per developer
