Hello all,

hopefully the right place. github copilot renderer issues:

• When GitHub Copilot is enabled in VS Code (on Apple Silicon M3, no Rosetta), switching focus to any pane, typing... or sometimes at random, causes VS Code to hang completely.

• During these hangs:

  • No particularly interesting Copilot logs are generated in any directory.

• No additional Copilot output appears in the Output window.
• All editor panes and menus become unresponsive: I cannot edit, paste, switch focus, or operate any menu/context menu item...
• The VS Code process spikes to 100% CPU usage.
• Disabling Copilot immediately resolves the issue; VS Code works fine without it.
• There is no relevant error in any VS Code logs.

• macOS version: 14.5
• Apple Silicon M3 ['24 Air]

Steps to Reproduce

1. Enable Copilot in VS Code.
2. Switch focus to any pane, or use VS Code normally. Switching either from within vscode, or to vscode.
3. VS Code becomes unresponsive as described above.

Additional notes

• No Copilot logs are generated. (checked)
• No network/proxy/firewall issues. (confirmed)
• No relevant errors in Developer Tools console. (checked)

Any ideas.. Other than clear caches / reinstall VSCode. Have already resinstalled copilot.

I have been facing the same issue for the past couple of weeks, tried to downgrade the copilot version, but that was unsuccessful, it is becoming very hard to use, I restart my MacBook Pro M2 Pro like 10-15 times a day!
