Issue with camera capture

Hi everyone,

Recently, i have tried to apply for GitHub education as a student. But i ended up in an issue related to camera.
Although the camera on another website/application, it works perfectly fine. But in GitHub website, it will be blurry, leading to image be blurry and denied.
I have tried to switch to a another browser (Brave, Chrome, Edge), but still same :(
My device is Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus

update: I have tried even different device (iPhone 16) and still the same, the camera is too blur ⊙﹏⊙∥

I filled my application by clicking the picture from phone and using a picture of my college student id . I suggest don't use the github app in phone as it has some bugs. instead try to apply using the phone browser (preferably chrome) . give this a read for more info - https://github.com/orgs/community/discussions/111352

Make sure the lighting is good and the lens is clean.
Avoid using the GitHub mobile app use a browser like Chrome on your phone or a computer.
If the issue continues, it's best to contact GitHub Education Support for help.

The lighting is the best I can create and the lens are clean, I of course made sure to eliminate that possibility. I do not even have the option to apply through the GitHub Android app. I've used Google Chrome and Samsung Internet (Arc on my PC, but that's still Chromium) but it did not made a difference. In Google I didn't even have the option to rotate my camera, so I had to use my selfie camera. I had a discussion with a GitHub Education Community Manager in a different thread, but his tips were unhelpful so far.

Try Firefox or Edge for better camera rotation support.
Use an external webcam (if on desktop) for better quality.
Use a rear camera instead of a selfie camera for clearer images.
Check for an option to upload a photo instead of capturing live.

Same issue, the camera is not a viable way to upload the required documentation. It's even worse when it has to be a document, the size isn't right, nor the quality and you can't even see the result clearly. We need the upload photo back, not just the camera option

GitHub just replied me, but sadly, they didn't give me any effective solutions, basically they just send me some advices that already on faq/docs

I had the same issue. What worked for me was using my PC screen to enlarge the ID photo, then carefully taking a picture of it using my phone's front camera. That made the text much more readable, and it eventually got accepted.
If you're asked to upload a photo for a semester that hasn't started yet due to being away from the college, you can include a screenshot of the college email mentioning your reason. Make sure the email is dated and clearly visible. View it in desktop mode, zoom in if needed, check the preview to ensure it's readable, then take a photo of the screen and upload that. After that, just fill in the required info as shown before submitting.
