I'd like to add my support for this feature. I invest in BTC (and some other crypto). Not as a trader. That means I also move crypto around and sell or buy occasionally. For that, I'd like to:
Currently, we can hack around it, by tracking them in EUR through a currency-pair. And by treating the comodities as stocks with the currency-pair as ticker. But that's not only confusing, it's limiting and somewhat cludgy. It's also difficult wrt interest and tax reporting etc. In my bookkeeping software, I can create any currency, and treat them as commodity. E.g. XAU or XBTC and either manually track the exchange-rate or rely on a lookup party to do this for me. I'd love to have such a feature in wealthfolio. Where I can enter my own currency. I won't mind then manually tracking the exchange rates even. This is how I e.g. track commodities like unlisted shares (XSOMECORP), real-estate (XMYHOUSE), bonus options, and crypto-currencies in my bookkeeping and it works quite well: it allows great flexibility and covers a lot of use-cases wrt investing. |

Hi there,
First off, thank you for the great work on Wealthfolio, I have just started testing it, so far it's a fantastic tool for tracking investments locally and privately.
I'd like to suggest adding support for commodities, starting with commonly tracked ones like gold (XAU) and silver (XAG). Ideally, this would allow tracking in different currencies (e.g., XAU/USD or NZD or AUD etc), similar to how stocks are tracked.
Even basic support with manual price entry or fetching from a public API would be really helpful. However, I’ve noticed that the code primarily relies on Yahoo Finance as its data source, which doesn’t provide certain specific tickers including cryptocurrency pairs like BTC/NZD (Bitcoin to New Zealand Dollar) making it currently impossible to track them within the app.
Cheers,
